The Board is looking at the city library of choice for West side Branch Library which will move from the old House, Westdale Mall.
Library Director, Bob Pasicznyuk, on Thursday said the Library Board will hold public forums at 6 on 17 January and 24 January to hear from the public about the future of the West side Branch Library and about where to is located.
Pasicznyuk said the Development Committee Of the library have been spending some time to check the site option, which has now been whittled down to two. One calls for the renovation of the West side of the library’s current site in what had been the former Osco Pharmacy space at Westdale Mall. And the second option is to renovate a portion of the former Target store, at Williams Boulevard SW from the Mall.
The third option-the renovation of the Bishop of the former second floor room buffet-the Mall has now been nixed because the Mall wall supports the floor couldn’t handle the weight of the library stacks of books, Library Director explains.
After the flood of 2008, which devastated Central Library on first Street SE, the Board of the library into a small side Branch Library West of the mall’s second floor while the Central Library in a bigger place on the first floor of the mall’s former Osco. The Administrative Office of the library is across the Hall from the Osco.
